Principal's Message

It is with a  great sense of  honor, pride, humility and joyful anticipation that I introduce myself as your new principal for the 2023-24 school-year and beyond. I am excited about the opportunity to join the Live Oak community as we look to build on the rich history of excellence already established at the school. Before I go on, I want to publicly recognize and thank Mrs. Dobel for her many years of service to our school and community. We are thankful for her many contributions and appreciate all she has done for Live Oak.

First, let me tell you a little bit more about myself, I am a proud bay area native.  Born in Berkeley, lived briefly in Oakland (yes, that makes me a born Raiders, Warriors, and A’s fan), but raised in Moraga, CA for the majority of my life. I graduated high school from Campolindo H.S., did my undergraduate work at UC Davis and completed all of my credential and post graduate work at St. Mary’s College, CA.

This is the start of my 31st year in education, with 15 of those as a teacher (K, 1, 3, and 5), two as a teacher/assistant administrator and 15, now going on 16 as a principal in public education.

I am happily married to my beautiful wife of 20 years and together we have 4 kids. We just sent our first kid to college, have another in high school and two more in middle school.

In education, I have always felt that if we put kids first that we cannot go wrong. We are going to support our kids and the employees that are charged with their learning and well-being. We will focus on our results and student outcomes and we will expect success because our students’ future is what is at stake.

To do this, every aspect of the school from the relationships that we forge, to the curriculum, support services, and environment that we provide will be looked at with an eye towards improvement on a daily basis. I pledge that every student at Live Oak will be at the forefront of everything we do.

I am really looking forward to meeting your family and working with all of your Live Oak student(s).

As far as communication goes, my door is always open to you. You do NOT need an appointment to see me. Just stop by the office and if I am there, I would be happy to meet with you. If I am busy or unable to meet with you, you are welcome to make an appointment. Otherwise, you are always free to stop me in the halls or out in front of school if you’d like to chat. I view our relationship as a partnership. We are the team that is ultimately tasked with teaching, supporting and helping to raise your incredible kids. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your team.

School Updates:
  • Please join me in welcoming our newest 4th grade teacher, Ms. Dianne Wulfsberg. Ms. Wulfsberg will be taking over for Ms. Sarah Wood, who accepted a position as an MTSS Liaison TSA here in the district. We wish Ms. Wood the best of luck and thank her for her years of distinguished service. Ms. Wood will be missed.
