Stanger Danger Alert Near Dougherty Valley High School
Posted 12/11/19

We want to inform you that this morning at approximately 8:30 a.m., a Dougherty Valley High School Student was walking to school on Bayberry View Ln. when she was approached by an unknown male around 40 years of age, driving a grey, four door Toyota Prius. The man asked the student if she wanted a ride. The student said ‘no’ and the man drove away.

The student did the right thing and reported the incident to the police and San Ramon Police are investigating the incident. We encourage anyone who may know something about this incident or individual, to please contact the San Ramon Police at (925) 973-2700.  We recognize that this is the second incident this week, but we do not know if this is the same individual.

We know that these kinds of incidents are concerning to our community, so in order to help keep students safe, we encourage parents to take some time to talk to their students of all ages about safe practices while walking to and from school:

  • Do not talk to strangers, even if they know your name.
  • Always walk directly to and from school using the same path every day.
  • Always walk or ride your bike with a group of friends.
  • Run directly to school or home if you are approached by a stranger.
  • Immediately notify a school official or parent.

Students are encouraged to do the following: “If you see something or know something, say something.” You may always report information using the anonymous tipline posted on the homepage of every school’s website.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe.
